A Ram 1500 frame is high-strength steel, and that limits the pull
The current Ram 1500 rides on a frame built almost entirely from high-strength steel, which is excellent for towing numbers and unhelpful for anyone hoping to straighten it casually. Higher-strength steels have less ability to be worked cold before they crack, and heating them to make the job easier removes exactly the property the frame was specified for. The manufacturer publishes what may be corrected, what may be sectioned and what has to be replaced.
Every Ram with structural damage goes on the laser system so the actual dimensions are known before anyone decides. Corrections are made on the frame machine within the published limits, the truck is measured again afterward, and both sets of readings go in your file. On a work truck that spends its life loaded, guessing at frame condition is not something we are prepared to do. A frame out by a few millimeters will eat tires and pull under load long after the bodywork looks finished.
Aluminum closures and the 48-volt system on eTorque trucks
Ram uses aluminum for the 1500’s hood and tailgate to pull weight off the front and rear of the truck, which means two of the most commonly damaged panels on the vehicle are not steel. Aluminum will not take heat to relax a crease, it work-hardens quickly, and it corrodes if steel particles are left embedded in it — so those panels are worked with separate tooling and abrasives, well away from steel dust.
Many Rams also carry the eTorque mild-hybrid system, which adds a 48-volt battery pack and a belt-driven motor generator to what otherwise looks like a conventional engine bay. Forty-eight volts is not lethal the way a traction battery is, but it will arc and it will damage components, so that circuit is isolated before adjacent work rather than being treated as ordinary 12-volt wiring. It is a short step in the sequence and an expensive one to skip.

Beds, boxes and the parts of a truck repair people forget
A pickup is two structures bolted together, and a rear impact tends to expose that. Bed mounts shift, the box moves relative to the cab, tailgate gaps open unevenly, and on trucks with a storage box in the bedside the doors and seals stop lining up. None of that shows in a photograph taken from twenty feet away, which is why the estimate here is written after teardown rather than before it.
Bed liners, tonneau covers, running boards and trailer wiring all have to come off and go back correctly as well, and the rear sensors that most Rams carry for park assist and blind spot monitoring live in the bumper. All of it is inventoried at teardown, function-checked at reassembly, and the truck is scanned before and after so nothing is left stored in a module. Everything that comes off the truck is inventoried, and everything that comes off goes back on.
