File the claim through your insurance company’s app, website, or the number on your insurance card, and name Prime Auto Body in Savage as the repair facility. Minnesota law makes that your decision. Reporting the accident

Open the claim once you are out of traffic and everyone is accounted for. The app, the website, and the number on your insurance card all reach the same claims system, so use whichever is in front of you. Give the location precisely — intersection, highway and direction, or mile marker — because a vague location is the single most common reason a claim generates a follow-up call.

Keep your own copy of everything you submit, and write down the claim number before the call ends. Then say the vehicle is being repaired at Prime Auto Body in Savage. A note on plain speaking: we are an independently owned shop and hold no affiliation, endorsement, or network membership with GEICO. The company is named here only so this page answers the question people actually search for.

A network shop is an offer, not an instruction

Insurance companies that handle claims directly are efficient partly because they route work into their own repair networks, and you will hear about the network early. Minnesota Statute § 72A.201 keeps it an offer: no insurance company may require a particular shop, or apply pressure, incentives, or threats to steer you into one. Your policy pays the reasonable cost of restoring the vehicle to pre-accident condition wherever the work happens.

The network pitch usually includes a repair guarantee. It is worth knowing what that is — a guarantee written by the participating shop and backed by its continued participation. Ours is a lifetime warranty on paint and refinish work from a shop the same owner has run in Savage since 2010. Compare the two on their merits rather than on which one was mentioned first.

How the repair runs at our shop

Estimating starts with disassembly. Covers, liners, and lamps come off, everything behind them is inspected and photographed, and the estimate is written from that rather than from the outside of the car. When an impact reached the structure, the vehicle goes on the frame machine and is measured against the manufacturer specification before anything is pulled.

Refinishing is where a repair either disappears or announces itself. Color is read directly off your paint, tinted, and checked as a sprayed test card against the panel before the gun touches the car, then blended into the neighboring panels and cleared across the whole area. That work carries a lifetime warranty for as long as you own the vehicle.

  • Damage documented and the estimate written after teardown
  • Adjuster inspection hosted at our shop rather than a claims center
  • OEM parts written in first, with the reasoning attached
  • Color read off your vehicle and verified on a spray-out card
  • Final inspection, road test, and a walk-around with you

Short estimates and supplements

When an approved estimate does not cover what the car needs, the remedy is a supplement, and it is ordinary claims procedure. We file it with photographs taken during teardown, the part numbers, and the labor operations behind them, then follow it until it clears. You are not the messenger in that process.

If parts are the sticking point, remember what Minnesota requires: restoration to pre-accident condition with parts of like kind and quality, and no obligation on you to accept non-original parts, with glass as the exception. We write OEM part numbers with a documented reason on anything structural or sensor-bearing. Coverage is always governed by your policy terms, but what the vehicle needs is settled on evidence.

Common questions

Straight answers before you commit to anything — and a human on the phone when you want one.

Do I have to use a shop from the insurance company’s network?

No. In Minnesota the choice is yours by statute, and using a shop outside a network does not reduce what your policy owes toward restoring the vehicle to pre-accident condition.

Will an independent shop slow my claim down?

It should not. We open the file, meet the adjuster here, and file supplements with documentation attached — usually faster than a claim that has to be rewritten twice because the first estimate came from photographs.

Is Prime Auto Body connected to GEICO in any way?

No. We are independent and unaffiliated with any insurance company. We accept them all, and every repair is written the same way regardless of the insurance company paying for it.
