The Sierra is a truck of several different materials
GMC builds the Sierra with aluminum doors, hood and tailgate over a steel cab structure and frame, and on some trims it offers a carbon fiber composite bed in place of steel. That is three fundamentally different repair disciplines available on one vehicle. Aluminum will not take heat and needs isolated tooling; steel takes conventional work; a composite bed is not a panel that gets pulled straight at all and follows its own published guidance.
The practical consequence is that the material has to be established before the method is chosen, which happens during teardown rather than in the parking lot. GM publishes the joint types, adhesives, fastener specifications and replacement points for each configuration, and the estimate here is written from that document with photographs attached for your insurance company. Guessing is expensive in both directions here: replacing a panel that could have been repaired, or repairing one the procedure says must be replaced. Neither outcome is acceptable on a truck this expensive.
MultiPro tailgates and trailering cameras complicate the rear end
A rear impact on a modern Sierra is not the simple job it was a decade ago. The MultiPro tailgate has multiple independent hinged sections, its own latches and actuators, and it only works if the opening it hangs in is square. Trailering packages add camera modules and wiring at the rear of the truck, and park assist and blind spot sensors sit in the bumper where the damage lands.
So a rear-end repair on a Sierra is measured, not just fitted. The bed and cab relationship is checked against factory dimensions, the tailgate is refitted and every function exercised, camera views are verified on the screen, and the truck is scanned before teardown and after reassembly so nothing is left stored in a module. Sensors are function-checked on both sides before delivery. A tailgate that works two of its six ways is the sort of thing an owner finds out about at a job site rather than in our lot.

Denali finishes and the color work on a GMC
GM uses three-stage finishes across the Denali trims and the wider GMC range — the tricoat whites and tinted reds put a translucent layer over a base coat, and the number of passes across that layer decides where the color lands. Two technicians can mix the same code and finish visibly apart, which is a procedural problem rather than a materials one and is solved by testing before committing.
Every tricoat GMC gets a spray-out card built with the same gun and pass count planned for the truck, checked against your panel in booth light and outdoors, then adjusted. Color is blended into the surrounding panels rather than stopped at a seam, and on a large flat truck panel that blend is what makes the repair invisible. The work carries our lifetime paint warranty in writing. On a truck that lives outdoors year round, that matters more than it does on a garage queen.
