What "lifetime" means here
It means the warranty runs for as long as you own the vehicle, with no mileage cap and no expiry date to keep track of. It is not transferable to the next owner, and it is not a warranty against the world. It is our promise that the refinish work we performed will not fail because of the way we performed it. That distinction is the whole document, and it is the same one every honest warranty in this trade draws.
That covers the failures that come from process: paint lifting from the substrate, clearcoat peeling or delaminating, cracking, blistering, and color separating from the panels we blended into. If any of it appears on work we did, bring the car back and we make it right. The written terms come with your estimate — worth reading before you commit rather than after. A shop that will not show you its warranty until the car is finished is telling you something about the warranty.
Why a shop can offer this at all
A lifetime paint warranty is a statement about process control, not generosity. Refinish failures almost always trace back to three causes: contamination in the air while the paint was wet, inadequate preparation of the surface underneath, or film built too thin or too fast. A shop that controls all three is making a low-risk promise. A shop that does not cannot afford to make it. That is worth remembering when you compare quotes — the shop offering the shortest coverage is often the one with the least control over its own process.
Our end of it is the preparation nobody ever sees — stripping back to sound material, the correct primer for the substrate, block-sanding flat, degreasing before the gun comes out, and spraying where the air moving past the panel is filtered. The warranty is simply what we are willing to sign because of that sequence. None of those steps show up in a finished car as something you can point at. They show up as the absence of a problem five winters from now.
- Substrate cleaned, stripped where needed, and correctly primed
- Panels block-sanded flat before any color is sprayed
- Color measured off your vehicle, not taken from the code alone
- Sprayed in a downdraft booth with filtered airflow
- Blended into adjacent panels so there is no hard edge to fail
What no paint warranty can cover — and how to claim
New damage is not a warranty matter: stone chips off Highway 13 in March, a shopping cart, a later collision, tree sap or bird droppings left to etch, or finish damaged by aggressive automatic washes. Neither is failure of the original factory paint on panels we never touched. Any honest warranty draws those lines, and ours are printed on the document you receive. What we will not do is treat them as an escape hatch: if a panel we sprayed is failing and our work caused it, we own it.
Claiming it is simple. Call (651) 460-9996, describe what you are seeing, and bring the car by so the panel can be looked at in person. Keep your final invoice — it identifies which panels we refinished and when, which is the only record either of us needs. Riaz has owned this shop since 2010, and a lifetime warranty is worth something because the same owner is still on the floor.
