The Silverado is a mixed-material truck, and that matters
Current Silverado and Sierra trucks are not all-steel and not all-aluminum. General Motors uses aluminum for the doors, hood and tailgate while keeping a roll-formed high-strength steel bed and a steel frame, which means a single collision can put two different materials and two different joining methods on the same repair plan. Aluminum closures need their own tooling and abrasives; the steel bed and frame do not, and the two cannot be worked in the same dust.
GM publishes sectioning locations, weld counts and adhesive specifications for each body, and it publishes them for a reason: the truck was engineered to fold in a defined sequence. We laser-measure the frame and cab mounts against factory dimensions before any pull, make the corrections on the frame machine, then measure again and put both readings in your file with the estimate. Cab mount condition matters as much as the rails on a truck, because a body sitting a few millimeters out of position will never close its doors evenly.
The bowtie in the grille is part of the radar system
On most Chevrolet models with forward collision alert and adaptive cruise, the radar sensor sits behind the front grille and looks out through the emblem area, which is built as a radar-transparent window rather than as decoration. Swap in a chrome-look aftermarket emblem, add a bug deflector across the fascia, or refinish that panel with a heavily metallic paint and the beam can be attenuated enough to change how early the system reacts.
That is one of the main reasons our parts promise matters on a Chevy. Anything a camera looks through or a radar looks past gets specified as a genuine GM part on the estimate, and the vehicle is scanned before teardown and again after reassembly so the module list is documented both ways. Any calibration GM publishes for the work performed is completed to that procedure before delivery. None of that is optional on a vehicle whose braking system is allowed to intervene on its own.

GM leans on three-stage finishes across the lineup — Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, Radiant Red Tintcoat and their relatives all put a translucent layer over a base coat, and the shade you end up with is set by how many passes go across that middle layer. Two painters working from the same code can land in visibly different places. That is not a mixing problem, it is a procedure problem, and the answer is to test before you commit.
Every tricoat Chevrolet here gets a spray-out card built with the same gun, the same distance and the same number of passes planned for the car. The card is checked against your panel under booth light and in daylight, adjusted, and only then does the vehicle get sprayed. Color is blended into the surrounding panels rather than cut off at a seam, and the work carries our lifetime paint warranty.
